Annie Delport lives in Simon’s Town where she works as a tour guide. While she loves her job, years of unprotected sun exposure left her with visible damage in the form of wrinkles, uneven texture and a loss of firmness. “I live and eat healthily and I’m young in body and spirit. It is just my face, ageing skin and wrinkles that get me down,” she said.
Fortunately, Annie was in for the makeover of a lifetime when she took part in kykNET’s popular makeover show, Mooimaak. The Skin Renewal team lead by Dr Andre Truter and therapist Bernice Crause used a series of treatments to help rejuvenate her skin and the results are nothing short of incredible.
Lasers and light: Limelight, CO2 fractional laser and Photodynamic Therapy.
Injectables: Dermal fillers and botulinum toxin
Extra: A Vampire facial using Dermapen with PRP and a Jett Plasma eye rejuvenation
The Vampire Facial
A Vampire facial might sound scary but it’s not. The treatment, made famous by celebrities like Kim Kardashian, involves drawing the patient’s own blood and running it through a process to isolate its platelet-rich plasma (PRP). As PRP contains growth factors, it stimulates tissue regeneration and rapid healing. They then inject it back into the skin to boost collagen creation and speed up the healing process.
At Skin Renewal, they use a superior platelet separating process that allows them to collect a lot more PRP from a single blood sample than you would with other methods. This is how they were able to refine Annie’s skin texture, improve the look lines and create a firmer, more youthful-looking skin.
The eyes have it!
They rejuvenated Annie’s eye area using a device called the Jett Plasma Lift Medical, the first patented electrocautery device in the world. It emits a safe, high voltage charge that tightens up skin tissue and stimulates the growth of new collagen. As the tip doesn’t even have to touch your skin to work, it’s almost like a magic wand to create a non-surgical eye lift. No cutting! No scars!
Another way they improved Annie’s eye area was via botulinum toxin injections. These dramatically softened her crow’s feet and, if she repeats the treatment every four months, she can maintain her smooth new look.
A touch of light
To tackle Annie’s deepest wrinkles, they used a CO2 fractional laser to treat her entire face. It removes the outer layers of dead, damaged skin and stimulates the creation of yet more collagen. As it’s one of the more intensive lasers in our line up, it requires 7 to 10 days of downtime, but Annie will be the first to tell you that the results are totally worth it. “My texture is beautiful, smooth and glowing!” she says. “I want to do it again!”
