Open Air School recently visited Durban High School in order to encourage the learners to support Casual Day this Friday, September 9th at a cost of R10 each.
Open Air School serves physically challenged learners in KZN with many of their learners living in rural impoverished households – thus having to be housed in the school’s boarding establishment. Open Air depends on donations to provide an education for these learners who would further be disadvantaged without an education. DHS, has for a number of years, fully supported all that Open Air stands for and appeal to the public to join forces with them to support Casual Day!
Of the R10 donation for a Casual Day sticker, Open Air, amongst other organisations, get a portion of the funds.
DHS have also incentivised all the learners who make their difference by paying their R10. For every R10 donated to Casual Day, one hour of community service to a maximum of 3 hours community service, will be awarded.
For a number of years now, Casual Day is the only civvies day that DHS has supported as it is a cause close to the hearts of the DHS family.
Mrs. Pillay, an Open Air School teacher, is responsible for co-ordinating Casual Day and addressed the learners upon their visit. Some of the Open Air learners also presented personal speeches to the learners, who were taken aback by the strength of these learners who have such a positive outlook on life.
Please support Casual Day!
