On Saturday 25 November Grace Aid will be hosting the annual Hope Market from 9am to 12pm at Grace Family Church’s Umhlanga Campus. Entrance is free and there is ample parking, activities for the kids and delicious food on sale.
The Hope Market is a community development initiative that seeks to walk a journey of hope with the sellers, participating in their growth and development as entrepreneurs. These sellers have been through business skills training and practical, useful, comprehensive programmes run by Grace Aid. “It’s a privilege to offer opportunities to emerging business entrepreneurs who will glean experience whilst selling their hand crafted products,” said Dave Richter of Grace Family Church.
Hope Market is a market with a difference! The organisers have created the market as a platform for further learning and exposure for these micro-businesses. Non-profit organisations that have a local skills development initiative will also be showcased at the market. These initiatives are all about equipping their communities to make products that can become a sustainable income source.
Visitors to the Hope Market will enjoy not only local crafts, but fresh produce and jewellery, as well as fashion and home décor accessories. There will be live music by local musicians so all are invited to shop, relax, and enjoy a day out supporting these entrepreneurs. For the kids there will be Selfie’s with Santa, Sandart, cup cake decorating, face painting and a jumping castle! Freshly brewed coffee will be served by baristas in training.
This is unlike other markets around Durban. The Hope Market is a platform for those who need an opportunity for exposure, as they work towards personal and economic upliftment.
There was a training day facilitated at Grace Family Church Umhlanga a few weeks before the market that was aimed at equipping the entrepreneurs with information and practical advice on how to set up for a market, display, pricing, product range, customer service and more.
Join them on Saturday 25 November in support of local entrepreneurs at the Hope Market.
